Ph.D in Climate Sciences

Jessica Wan
I am a fourth year Climate Sciences Ph.D. student at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. My research involves using computer models of the Earth to simulate how climate geoengineering proposals might alleviate climate change impacts in different regions of the world. Prior to coming to UCSD, I completed a B.S. in Environment & Sustainability from Cornell University where I participated in fire aerosol research and developed a passion for climate modeling. Outside of research, I have served as part of the leadership team for the SIO Applicant Support and Knowledge-base program and Climate Sciences Curricular Group peer mentor program and assistant coach for the UC San Diego women's ultimate frisbee team. The ARCS Foundation Award has given me the financial freedom to push the frontiers of climate science research and train the next generation.
