Dissertation and Thesis Submission

  • The doctoral dissertation/master's thesis must be submitted to each member of the doctoral/thesis committee at least four weeks before the final examination/defense.
  • A student must make an appointment with the Graduate Division for a preliminary check of his/her dissertation/thesis. At that appointment the format is checked and instructions on the final preparation and submission of the dissertation/thesis are given.
  • The final version of the dissertation/thesis must conform to procedures outlined in the "Preparation and Submission Manual for Doctoral Dissertations and Masters' Theses".
    * Please note, new margin and pagination requirements are in effect beginning Fall 2017 (applicable for students who have their final appointment after September 8, 2017). Please be sure to follow the 2017-2018 version of the manual found here.
    * Dissertations/theses already formatted according to the 2016-2017 manual will be accepted only through Fall 2017 (final appointment must be completed by December 15, 2017). We encourage all students to use the format described in the 2017-2018 manual.
  • A student must make a final appointment with the Graduate Division for the submission of all final degree paperwork and the final dissertation/thesis. Please see the 2017-2018 Preparation and Submission Manual for Doctoral Dissertations and Masters' Theses for detailed instructions.
  • Please print the Dissertation/Thesis Release Form and bring it with you to discuss during your preliminary appointment.
